The golf branch of the mega-corporation Mizuno has produced ever more beautiful and better golf clubs in recent years. In the driver collection for the 2021 season, Mizuno has clearly outdone itself again. In addition to the beautifully designed, modern look, two different versions have been created for different categories of golfer. Choose the right one and you are sure to enjoy it for years to come. The Project-X Evenflow Riptide CB 50G Shaft in this version has a comparatively higher ball flight.
The technique: more focus on power and forgiveness
The Mizuno ST-Z drivers are full of interesting innovations. For the 2021 season, the face is made from Forged SAT 2041 BETA Titanium: This material retains its properties better and resists micro-cracking longer than the 6-4 Ti commonly used by the major brands. The crown (top of the head) at Mizuno has long been made of lightweight carbon. This makes the sole (underside of the head) proportionally heavier and therefore the center of gravity lower, making it easier to launch the ball. The Wave Technology just behind the face provides more stability and a huge sweet spot for easier straight hitting. This Wave Technology together with the weight distribution of the ST-Z Drivers has been optimised for even more fun.
Which one is the best for you?
The 'normal' ST-X driver will appeal to the largest target group (HCP 18-54). This balanced model has an ideal combination of power and forgiveness. With most of the weight in the back of the head, not hitting the ball cleanly is not a problem. This is coupled with not too much spin to affect flight control. The top of the range model, the ST-Z is for the more demanding, advanced golfers. This version features a flatter flight (and therefore more length) and a different head balance that allows for more precise ball control and a better feel of what to expect at ball contact. More feedback means you sacrifice a little forgiveness for more length and control. In addition, the amount of spin is lower (better) than with the maximum forgiveness version, making this ST-Z ideal for the more advanced target group of golfers (HCP 0-32).
Loft adjustability... very handy!
The loft adjustability allows you to adjust the driver's loft up to 2 degrees up or down to suit your swing, technique or preference. The right loft setting could give you 10 to 15 metres of length. The adjustment key is included.
Standard version
As standard, this Mizuno ST-Z driver comes with the powerfull 2022 HZRDUS Smoke RDX Blue 60 Shaft graphite shaft and GolfPride Tour Velvet grip, but should you require a different shaft or grip, there is no extra charge.
