TaylorMade has introduced the 3rd generation of the highly successful P790 irons. Technical innovation continues and it shows. Not only do they look better, but a number of important changes have been made to give these clubs a more perfect combination of power, feel and looks than ever before. With the latest P-790 irons, TaylorMade is packing very powerful performance into a beautiful, classic Players-iron design. Highly recommended!

_{The technique}

Demanding golfers generally look for irons that combine high performance with feel and control. The earlier versions were already very nice clubs, but these 3rd generation TaylorMade P790 irons, introduced in late 2021, are noticeably better.

With a clubhead construction of 8620 Carbon Steel combined with the Forged 4140 Steel L-Face face and updated SpeedFoam Air Technology inside, you get an aggressive iron that feels controlled and solid on contact. Vibrations are dampened by the foam padding, really adding value to the experience of ball contact. In these further developed P-790 irons, Thru-Slot Speed Pockets are also used in the longer irons. These Slots are clearly visible as a black insert in the sole and provide even more power and launching force. You will notice that these irons are more powerful than previous generations. 

The head uses a club-face construction that varies in thickness, creating more forgiveness and consistency than is usual in a distance iron. More ball speed across the entire clubface is noticeable when not hitting pure. For added forgiveness and playability, P-790 irons feature a strategically placed cast Tungsten weight for precise Centre of Gravity determination and higher MOI. Taylormade says: "With P-790 we created a forged iron that meets the highest demands of better players. The iron delivers a distance never before achieved in a Players-iron. By combining the new SpeedFoam Technology in the forged clubhead with a clean, classic design, we have built an iron that is as beautiful as it is powerful - the new standard for all-round iron performance."

These 2021 version of the TaylorMade P790 irons come standard with the Dynamic Gold 95 (R) / 105 (S) steel shafts with the GolfPride Z-Grips. Any specific requirements or modifications are of course possible in consultation.
