A Utility club, also known as a driving iron, is a 'long iron' for bridging long distances, often with characteristics of a hybrid club in it.
Advanced golfers have the technique, despite the low loft of these types of irons, to cover enormous distances, both from the tee and 'through the course'. Although this is not the simplest category of golf clubs, the hybrid properties in these clubs make for a bit more forgiving.
